Much like Java, Microsoft's .NET platform can install many versions to interact with different pieces of software that require specific versions.
Here is an easy way to check what versions you have installed:
Open a browser
In the URL field type,alert(navigator.userAgent)
This will generate a dialog box that will not only tell you what version of browser you are running, but also what version of .NET CLR you have installed.
